Moving Around: Minimizing Livelihoods Disruption After Relocation

In this IGC funded research project, we seek to understand the impact of state-sponsored housing resettlement on employment and entrepreneurship among families in Semmancheri and Perumbakkam, Chennai. It builds on an earlier study conducted by Okapi and CTaP on infrastructure and service provision in Semmancheri, recognising that as relocation continues to be the state’s preferred housing option for households with insecure or informal tenure, a wider body of evidence is crucial in understanding how to minimise disruptions to household welfare that are a result of these policy choices.
